Rugby is one of those sports that stays in your blood. It opens up avenues and give people chances to express themselves in way not possible in normal life. Sometimes we can tend to forget these things however a couple of wonderful examples have happened at Hinckley RFC recently.
Hinckley have led Leicestershire in delivering Walking Rugby to the public. It happens on a Monday at 10.30am, and Tuesday at 6pm. Currently it is supported by a small but growing and committed band of participants.
Geoff Target is an example of someone (in the past) you would not put down as built for exercise. But he has turned up, tried it and absolutely loves it.
And then a few weeks ago we had a phone call from Ros Sulley who with Bob now lives in the Vale of Belvoir. For those that don't know, Bob was the first excellent coach at Hinckley RFC. He came to the club in 1980 and his coaching tenure was throughout the 90s. He set the scene for any future progress the club has since made.
We had heard that Bob had been suffering ill-health but after a couple of sessions he is now loving every minute and Ros is playing as well!! Who would have thought it :-)!
Walking Rugby is open to everyone! You can take this as an open invite to get involved. Monday 10.30am for 40 mins with coffee and biscuits social in the Cream Rooms after. And also Tuesday at 6pm with a couple of well-earned Guinness's after :-)!
Come give it a try! Express yourselves. Who knows what you might get in return!
