With the announcement that the Rugby season is now complete for all competitions bar the Premiership, I would like to update and thank everyone involved with our club Hinckley RFC.
I have been fortunate to captain Hinckley RFC for the last 5 years. It has been a fantastic journey and experience.
Our 1st XV finishing 3rd in National 2 (The highest league finish in the Club's history!), the 2nd XV remaining unbeaten finished 2nd in the Midlands Div 1 Reserve League and the 3rd XV remain a constant example of why 99.9% of us play the game, for the love of it!
The 1st XV have now finished consecutively higher in league positions year on year for the last 5 years and with hopes of securing the playoff spot this season now over, we finish the campaign with 5 games remaining and 5 points off 3rd position.
Importantly, I did not have the opportunity to address the club with a pre or post game chat over the mic, so I would like to thank:
- All the Bar & Kitchen staff, you keep a busy club fed, hydrated & lots of rugby players happy!
- The Committee who work tirelessly for the club to grow and maintain our position as the number 1 club in the County.
- The Coaches & Physios at all age groups. The performances and talent coming through the club are a testament to the time given to training and analysis over the season.
- The Supporters - the club is selling out every home game and we have an atmosphere not matched by any other club in our league. Word of mouth spreads fast! All our newcomers are staying and recommending us to friends alike, we really have created an amazing day out for the local community.
- The Sponsors - the support you provide is crucial to the club & our plans to expand and grow on and off the field.
- The Families of the Hinckley players. Thank you for supporting players with time away, injuries and rehab times. I speak from experience… Dealing with me after a Hinckley loss is not a nice experience …
We are ALL vital to the journey! We have ALL made the Club the place we enjoy today!
Who knows where we will be in 5 years?? It is an exciting time to be a HORNET!!
Thanks
Salty
