It is with great sadness, we are announcing the passing of Steve Warner. A huge character and long time member who will be deeply missed by family and friends.
He had recently come through a longterm illness and was last seen at the club on 27th Dec at the Burbage game where he was in fine form so he passing is a total shock to all.
For those that didn’t know him, Steve was an effervescent character, who had a huge zest for life. From a rugby point of view he played at all levels and continued to play well into his 50s. He loved the game and he loved the club.
Many will have fond memories of Steve on many tours with guitar in hand ready to entertain. Sometimes he would sing one of the worst renditions of Dolly Parton’s D.I.V.O.R.C.E you could wish to hear but at the time and place perfect. Or see with amazement his wardrobe of local clubs rugby shirts, proudly worn and no doubt collected via various means. If Steve hadn’t got one, it either was worth having or more likely he hadn’t played them!
From HRFC, goodbye my friend you can now rest in peace.
Our love and best wishes go out to his family in this most difficult of times.
Funeral details will follow when available.
