Hinckley overcame a battling Luctonians side in a game at Leicester Road which went both ways at different times.

Luctonians were first on the board with a penalty from Tom Jones, and after a period of Hinckley pressure this was equalised by Joe Wilson, when the home side will have felt they should have had more, but small errors got in the way.

Jones kicked a excellent long range penalty soon after this, which was very impressively struck even with the wind behind him, which gave the the visitors the lead again and it took an excellent dart from Ben Pointon to give Hinckley the lead on 31 mins which was followed by a Wilson conversion. With no further scores in the first half this gave Hinckley a 4 point lead going down the hill in the second half.

However that advantage didn’t seem to be evident when Charlie Grimes collected a loose kick to finish superbly well from 80 metres, and at that point Hinckley looked shaky, and had to regroup quickly.

However as regular happens, it was captain Alex Salt who pulled the team back together with a trademark run off the back of the scrum on 51 mins and Wilson’s conversion made it a 4 point game.

The game then flowed back to Luctonians however and when a well finished move in the left hand corner was finished by James Wheeler with an excellent touch line conversion by Jones with 10 minutes left it looked as if it would be the visitors who took the points.

However Hinckley managed to grind it out; as they so often do. With set piece dominance coming through Mitch Lamb was given the opportunity to finish a flowing move in the left hand corner and Wilson’s conversion gave Hinckley enough to take the points, even though they will be disappointed not to have taken away the bonus point with some opportunities missed in the closing stages.
